About the event
Join us to get up close with intricate systems that intercept marine plastic waste right before it can enter our oceans!
We're partnering with Plastic Fischer, a global team tackling marine pollution across multiple sites in India & Indonesia using innovative, low tech solutions. Their model uses trash-boom barriers to divert waste from the seas. The diverted waste is collected and transported to sites that dry, sort, and process it, thereby creating livelihoods and helping close the loop on plastic pollution. This marvelous video gives you a succinct idea of what they do.
We will be visiting 2 of Plastic Fisher’s locations this time.
What to Expect?
Site 1 TOUR: A guided walkthrough of Plastic Fischer’s trash boom barrier site where you will get to see the extensive volume of waste that gets collected & diverted on a daily basis
Site 2 TOUR: A detailed tour of their Material Recovery Facility where you will understand how the collected waste is processed across multiple stages to close the loop - this is a true chance to get a piece of the black box of waste management & see the hot bed of real action that runs our consumption-led societies!
On ground insights and reality checks on ocean waste, material circularity, and community livelihoods.
This is an invitation to reflect, question and ponder choices. You will definitely leave with new perspectives & better understanding of how we can tackle our burgeoning waste.
