About Event

I love how unexpected connections turn into new adventures for Spunky Seniors!

At a recent Lobero Theatre concert, I struck up a conversation with Lisa Starr and Hans Betzholtz, who were sitting next to us. It turns out they're musicians who lead a fun live music sing-along in Carpinteria! I told them about Spunky Seniors, and just like that, another fun adventure was born – the Beachtown Hootenanny Sing-Along!

If you love singing classics from the '60s and '70s, this is for you! Come enjoy a lively morning of singing familiar favorites, sharing some laughs, making music together and optional lunch afterwards.

Monday, November 16, 2026
10:30–11:30 AM
Veterans Memorial Hall
941 Walnut Avenue, Carpinteria
FREE!
(Yes, I know this is early but it is the only time available.)

You don't need a beautiful voice or any singing experience. Just bring your enthusiasm! Lisa and Hans provide the lyrics, and everyone sings together.

This free event is offered through the City of Carpinteria's AgeWell program. Lisa and Hans lead this Music Monday event on every third Monday of each month, except holidays, so if you enjoy yourself, you can come back again!

RSVP Required!
Please RSVP at luma.com/spunkyseniors.

Carpools Available!

Don't feel like driving to Carpinteria? Let's ride together! We'll help coordinate carpools from Santa Barbara so everyone who wants to attend has an opportunity to participate.

Please indicate in the registration questions if you need a ride or can offer a ride.

Carpools will meet at the Santa Barbara Mission, back parking lot near the large shade trees and depart at 9:45 AM. More details will be sent for those needing a carpool. I will be driving and my car snuggly hold 4 guests.

Parking & Arrival

Parking near Veterans Memorial Hall can sometimes be challenging, and traffic into Carpinteria can be unpredictable. Please allow extra time to find parking and arrive before the 10:30 AM start.

Optional Lunch Afterward!

There will be an optional lunch afterward. As Lisa says, "Singing makes for hungry business!" She recommends Giovanni's and Pizza Man Dan for their huge pizza slices, but there are plenty of other restaurants nearby. We'll choose a spot based on interest. Everyone pays for their own meal.

Please indicate in the registration questions if you'll be joining us for lunch.

Want Even More Singing?

Lisa and Hans also offer their Beachtown Hootenanny Sing-Along at the Lynda Fairly Carpinteria Arts Center. Their upcoming Sunday sessions are October 25, November 1, and November 8, from 1:30–3:00 PM. Each session costs $15 and takes place at 865 Linden Avenue in Carpinteria. For more information, go to https://carpinteriaartscenter.org/2026FallHoot.

These are separate, optional gatherings for anyone who wants even more opportunities to sing!

Come Sing With Us!

Let's fill the room with music, laughter, and friendship!
