OpenScope Community Predictive Processing - Community Only
Discussion and coordination of the two-photon mesoscope data analysis for the data-release manuscript. @Dedalus9 will present the latest analysis on those datasets, and others are welcome to share slides if they have them. About the project This is a community-driven, fully open-science effort run through the Allen Institute's OpenScope program, which gives scientists worldwide access to cutting-edge neurophysiological methods — much like an astronomical observatory, where researchers propose experiments that are then executed at the Allen Institute, with all data released openly as standardized Neurodata Without Borders (NWB) files in the public DANDI archive. allenneuraldynamicsallenneuraldynamics The current community project tests predictive processing — the theory that the brain continuously predicts its sensory inputs and refines neuronal responses by minimizing prediction errors. The experiments probe these mechanisms using mismatch stimuli in mice and primates, with datasets shared openly to enable iterative, community-driven refinement of predictive-processing models. Work spans four mismatch paradigms — visual (orientation), sequence, sensory-motor coupling, and duration/temporal violations — recorded via in-vivo two-photon imaging and electrophysiology on SLAP2, Neuropixels, and Mesoscope platforms. This event is hosted at the Frontier Tower:
We are transforming a 16-floor tower in San Francisco into a self-governed vertical village—a hub for frontier technologies and creative arts. Tier-one labs presenting AI, Ethereum, biotech, neuroscience, longevity, robotics, makerspace, human flourishing, and arts & music. These floors will house innovators and creators pushing the boundaries of human potential in a post-AI-singularity world.
