About Event

TL;DR:
Drinks with interesting people who care (or are at least curious) about making government work better.

Longer version:
What does the future of government actually look like?

Honestly… I don’t know.

But I do know this: it’s being built right now by people all over the world — public servants, technologists, community builders, researchers, and the occasional troublemaker inside the system. I call them Civic Punks.

My name is Derek Alton. I’m a Canadian who has spent the last 17 years working on public sector innovation. This year I’m travelling the world to explore the future of government through the eyes of the people building it.

Along the way I’m filming conversations, capturing stories, and sharing what I learn through videos and podcasts.

The tour is swinging through Melbourne, and I’d love to meet the local Civic Punks.

Come join us at the pub for a drink, good conversation, and a chance to connect with others who care about how government works (and how it might work better).

Bring a friend. Bring a colleague. Bring someone who has strong opinions about bureaucracy.
