Design Cafe: Genre Shift
Design Cafe is a new gathering at Ours for designers of every level, from students and hobbyists to people who’ve been doing this for decades. Each session pairs a group crit with an evening of making.
For our first one, we’ll start by talking through a piece of work from the wider design world, then spend the rest of the night making genre-shifting movie posters. You’ll draw a well-known poster and a new genre at random, then rework the poster’s tone to fit. Think of a family comedy reimagined as psychological horror, or a slasher reworked as a Hallmark Christmas movie.
Bring your design tool of choice, whether that’s a laptop or a sketchbook. If you’d rather work analog, there’s a scanner on site so you can share your poster with the group.
Small bites and beverages provided.
