Being Consultant Meetup @Tokyo
Coffee, Careers, and a Conversation Worth Having.
Tokyo, we are doing something small and good.
I am going to be in town this weekend, and instead of doing what most visiting "speakers" do, which is talk at people from a stage, I figured we should do the opposite. Grab a coffee. Sit at a table. Talk like adults who actually want to figure things out.
That is the entire plan.
Who this is for:
You are doing your MBA, and the consulting recruiting season feels like a maze with no map.
You are an operator wondering if consulting is your next chapter, or your next mistake.
You are a founder who keeps getting told to "think more like a McKinsey person" and you are not sure if that is a compliment.
You are already in the game and trying to break into a target firm or a better role.
If any of that is you, this hour is for you.
Who this is not for:
People looking for a sales pitch. People who want a polished keynote. People who want to network in the bad sense of the word. There will be no slides, no LinkedIn-style monologues, no business cards changing hands like Pokemon.
Why bother showing up:
Because honest career conversations are rare. Because Tokyo has a way of making even a coffee feel like an occasion. Because omakase your career sometimes means trusting the person across the table more than the internet. And mostly because mottainai to skip a conversation that might actually move something for you.
