Women's tiny mud house building workshop
Learn to build a house with your own hands. Together we'll raise a tiny earthen home, working with adobe (mud bricks), cob, plasters, natural finishes and door and window frames.
When? Sat 16 to Fri 22 January 2027
Where? My little forest home, in a semi rural village 20 km south of Chiang Mai. We'll be surrounded by green, leafy nature in the cool of the Thai winter.
Why tiny? A small house uses far less material and invites a simpler way of living. It also means we can move through many stages of the build in a short time, so you get to practise a wide range of skills.
Why women? I learned to build with earth 12 years ago in an all-women's build. It was a truly transformational experience that I'd love to pass on to others.
Who is it for? This is a build for women, trans and non-binary people, a supportive space to learn earth building together. If you’re not sure whether it’s for you, just get in touch.
Mud building is suitable for all ages and abilities. Come if you have no experience and are curious to see how it all works. Come if you have some experience and want more practice or to learn specific skills. Or come simply to have fun in the mud with wonderful people, because it really is a joy.
Where will I stay? Accommodation is a mix of simple dorms in earthen buildings and tents. You can bring your own tent for a private space. If you enjoy simple time in nature (think camping or a rustic festival setting), and home cooked Thai food, then this is for you! If you prefer the modern comforts of a hotel, there are guest houses nearby you can book for yourself. Get in touch to talk about options!
Places are limited to a small group.
Register your interest here on Luma.
Contributions are on a sliding scale 8000 - 14000 thb and you'll find the options in the form.
If you'd love to learn mud building but this workshop isn't the right fit for you, I run volunteer days and short workshops open to everyone all year round. Please get in touch.
