Marker Writers Hour
Marker Writers Hour is here: a weekly co-writing gathering to write for a silent, uninterrupted session, alongside other writers all over the world.
At Marker, while we are building a tool to help you write more, and better, we also firmly believe that collaboration is core to writing — even if the writing itself feels solitary. We’re starting up our weekly co-writing sessions, Marker Writers Hour, to help you do just that.
There’s something magical about writing together, online, with other people. Everyone has their head’s down, if you glance up you might see a furrowed brow, or someone gazing into the distance, lost in thought or an idea. Online, you aren’t distracted by noises, shuffles, and snack consumption. Just studious brains all firing off synapses in unison. It can have a galvanizing effect on your own writing — the enforced time constraint being incredibly effective — all spurring you to keep going, similar to working in a quiet, busy library, coworking space, or an exam room (minus the terror!).
We’ll be meeting weekly, starting on Thursday 15 October, so you can build your writing practice alongside others. Co-writing is free so sign up to get a notification ahead of the next session.
When: Every Thursday, 12–1pm
Where: A Google Meet link sent to you on signup
What: An hour-long online live session, including the following:
Log on promptly at the hour
5 mins of saying hello, post in the chat about your project, and a short writing meditation to get us into the writing mindset
50 mins of solid writing, all microphones off
5 mins at the end to share how the session went, and an open invitation to share your work and connect with others
Bring: Your laptop and positive writerly energy
This setup is very similar to other writing hours out there, and we encourage you to do as many as possible! One thing you can guarantee at Marker Writers Hour is to meet other writers just like you — at all levels — who believe in writing, crave a world where people write more, and are looking for more and better ways to turn their thoughts into words.
Spaces are unlimited but you need to sign up to receive the Google Meet invite.
