About Event

The regulatory landscape for digital assets continues to evolve. With CARF and DAC8, crypto businesses and financial institutions face a new set of tax transparency, due diligence, data, and reporting requirements.

Together with PwC Netherlands, BCNL and VBNL are organizing an exclusive and highly interactive session focused entirely on what CARF and DAC8 mean in practice.

Date: 28-10-26
16:00 – 19:00
PwC Netherlands
Limited & curated attendance

From regulation to implementation

The session will be led by PwC's team of operational tax experts, specializing in areas including FATCA/CRS, CESOP and Digital Services Taxes. The team includes a former OECD member who contributed to the development of CARF, complemented by operational tax professionals with more than 10 years of experience in the financial sector.

Rather than focusing solely on the technical regulation, this session is designed to answer the practical questions:

What does CARF/DAC8 actually mean for your organization? What do you need to prepare? Where are the known pitfalls? And what challenges are other organizations already encountering?

The 5 Building Blocks of CARF

During the roundtable, PwC will take participants through five key areas:

1. Entity Management
Determining whether your organization falls within the scope of the regulation.

2. Product Analysis
Identifying which products and services are in scope.

3. Due Diligence
Understanding the requirements, how to implement them, and how they align with existing AML/KYC processes.

4. Reporting
What needs to be reported, where and when, which data points are required, and what this means for your organization and systems.

5. Governance Set-up
Establishing the right policies, procedures, responsibilities, and internal governance.

For each building block, we'll connect the regulatory requirements with real-world implementation, known pitfalls, and challenges PwC is seeing across the market.

An interactive roundtable

This is deliberately a small-scale and interactive session, not a traditional conference.

The core roundtable will last approximately two hours, with plenty of room for discussion, practical cases, and questions from participants. Attendees will also have the opportunity to submit questions and topics in advance, allowing the PwC team to tailor the conversation to the challenges organizations are actually facing.

Following the session, we'll continue with drinks and networking, giving participants the opportunity to exchange experiences and connect with peers.

Who should attend?

The session is particularly relevant for finance, tax, compliance and operational professionals working at:

Crypto exchanges • Brokers • Payment providers & PSPs • E-money institutions • Market makers • Banks & financial institutions • Other organizations active in or expanding into digital assets

Professionals from traditional financial institutions exploring or expanding their crypto activities are also very welcome.
