About Event

We're back in March with another Happy Hour - more good people, good conversations, and interesting information on the clean energy transition!

LOCATIONS:

5:00-6:00p - Drinks on Front Patio of Russian River Brewing, 725 4th Street, Santa Rosa

6:00-8:00p: Move 2 doors down to Sonoma Clean Power Customer Center, 741 Fourth Street, Santa Rosa to learn all about how to Cool the Climate with Hot Rocks!

The Geysers outside of Geyserville in northern Sonoma County are already the largest developed geothermal field in the world. This month, we'll be exploring the exciting opportunity to expand geothermal energy in the North Bay's future, with the Sonoma-Mendocino GeoZone, as well as hearing about new Enhanced Geothermal Systems technology bringing reliable baseload energy to locations across America.

Gather from 5:00p - we'll provide light bites, and drinks. Starting at 6:20p we'll hear from:

  • Miles Horton, Legislative Manager for Sonoma Clean Power, will join us to discuss SCP's work on the Sonoma-Mendocino GeoZone, as well as state level legislative work to support this effort.

  • Sarah "Harper" Harper, Senior Policy Associate for Fervo Energy's work in CA & NV, will talk about Fervo's work developing 24/7 carbon-free baseload energy through the development of next-generation geothermal power. Fervo’s key advancements in drilling and subsurface analytics bring a full suite of modern technology to make geothermal cost competitive, and to vastly expand where geothermal can be developed and generate energy.

  • Melanie Bagby, candidate for District 4 Supervisor in northern Sonoma County, was Chair of Sonoma Clean Power Board at the time of SCP signing of the SCPA Resolution creating the GeoZone. District 4 encompasses the Sonoma-Mendo GeoZone, and whoever is elected in this District may have substantial oversight of this future development.

  • Sonoma Clean Power, in partnership with Sonoma and Mendocino counties, is leading the GeoZone initiative to develop 600 MW of next-generation geothermal energy. As California’s energy load grows due to the rise of electric cars, the electrification of buildings, the energy demands associated with artificial intelligence, and more, the need for clean “firm” energy sources, like geothermal, is also quickly growing. California regulators have also identified a need for significant growth in this sector, and the California Public Utilities Commission is planning to more than double geothermal capacity by 2035. Expanding local geothermal capacity will position Sonoma and Mendocino counties as leaders in cleaning up California’s electric grid, and ensure our region reaps the benefits of high-quality jobs, local investments and tax revenues.

-5:00-6:00p: Mix and mingle with other North Bay professionals on the patio at Russian River Brewing
-6:00-7:00p: Pizza, salad and non-alc drinks provided along with presentation/discussion on the future of geothermal energy
-7:00-7:15p: Sharing circle among the group
-7:15-8:00p: Continue mingling
