A Civic Tech'ish Happy Hour: Island Edition
We're taking Civic Tech'ish to Governors Island. Happy hour runs from 2 to 4 on Saturday, October 10th, out on the water with the harbor and the skyline as the backdrop.
What to Expect:
A cross-section of people working on cities and public systems: public servants, technologists, founders, funders, consultants, and nonprofit operators
Genuine conversations across different corners of civic and urban tech: different roles, different focus areas, all in one place
No sales pitches, no panels, just good company
Fun prizes via our always-popular raffle 🎉
Optional activities before and during the happy hour so you can make a full island day of it
Make a Full Day of It:
The main extra is a volunteer session with the Billion Oyster Project. They're restoring NY Harbor with oyster reefs, a natural fit for a group that spends its weekdays working on cities and public systems.
We're also planning a few smaller activities around the happy hour. Those will be open to all attendees, and we'll share more as we get closer.
Pick Your Ticket:
Happy Hour Only: The main event, 2 to 4 on the water. Ferry over whenever works for you.
Happy Hour + Volunteer: The volunteer session, then straight into the happy hour. Starts with a 9:15am ferry and wraps at 2:30. Spots are limited, and we'll follow up with details.
Who Should Come:
If you work in civic and urban tech, or anywhere adjacent, you belong here. Whether you've been to every happy hour or never made it to one, a Saturday afternoon on the island is a pretty great place to start. Expect good company and the kind of conversations that only happen when we get out from behind our screens.
Getting There:
Governors Island is a short ferry ride from Lower Manhattan or Brooklyn. Suggested ferry times and a map to the exact spot on the island will be shared upon RSVP approval.
Fine print: By attending this event, you agree to abide by our code of conduct.
