Woven Bag Workshop: 3D Weaving with Jessie Young
Join us for a beginner friendly 3D weaving workshop where you'll craft your own woven shoulder bag/market tote!
You'll master the fundamentals of weaving while bringing your vision to life, customizing everything from the color(s), shapes, handles & weaves resulting in a functional art object that reflects your personal style.
All materials included, it will be a sweet therapeutic afternoon of 3D weaving, in community.
Please note! Everyone works at different paces, and though the majority of students will be able to complete their bags in the allotted 4 hours, some may not! All materials, pdf resources and a live office hour with Jessie will be provided to each student.
A complimentary bev will be provided, and snacks available for purchase.

About Your Instructor:
Jessie Mordine Young (b. England, 1993) is a Brooklyn-based artist who researches, writes about, curates, makes and teaches textile art. Jessie is best known for her project “A Woven Year,” where she created one original artwork each day of 2023. She is part-time faculty at Parsons School of Design at the New School in NYC.
What can I expect from a workshop at RecCreate?
Workshops at RecCreate are like the art school education your parents never let you get, at a tiny fraction of the price led by NYC’s most talented creatives + educators. We make sure you leave with something very special along with the know-how to continue exploring at home. Our emphasis is on education, creative exploration and tool proficiency.
As with all RecCreate events, you can expect to go on this journey with a room full of lovely strangers. We’ll offer opportunities for connection throughout our time— encouraging the spirit of the collective. It is (so) much more fun to get to create together.
Cancelation Policy
Unfortunately for this event tickets are non-refundable/exchange-able! Please double check your calendar. In the event you are no longer able to make it, you are welcome to give your ticket to a friend or swap it on our ticket swap board. Just tell them to use your name!

Though we do our best to keep all photography / video to a minimum, please note all guests who attend consent to being photographed and videoed which may be used for marketing or promotional purposes at the discretion of RecCreate Collective.
Age Restriction & Dogs
All guests must be 18+ to attend and though we love your pups, unfortunately cannot have them in the studio!
