About Event

Are you curious about what environmental justice looks like in practice? Do you want to learn more about exciting new energy technologies and how they can bring about real community benefits? If so, this event is for you!

Stanford Marine Energy club is hosting a Marine Energy Justice panel series to bring together speakers from across the marine energy and environmental justice spaces to discuss best practices for the nascent industry. We will hold two hour-long webinars with four speakers each, scheduled for 4 PM PT on April 10th and 17th. The April 17th panel will feature Michelle Early Capistrán, with discussions about ocean/coastal stakeholders, including the challenges of working in this environment, strategies for robust engagement, and opportunities marine energy can bring.

Marine energy justice is still relatively unexplored, so this will be a crucial discussion, especially as the federal government continues to roll back funding and support for environmental justice programs. Marine energy can be an invaluable tool to improve the lives of coastal communities and marine stakeholders, but it will take a dedicated effort to center people in the conversation.

Join us to be a part of that process and help get the ball rolling by putting the events in your calendar and signing up with the link below!
