About Event

What is "wendy's hobby hop"?

This is an event designed to bring our community, "sir, this is a wendy's", and friends of the community together to celebrate and explore new passions. ✨ It's where you can try out different activities, meet new people, and engage with the incredible hobbies happening right here in our community. 😌

After hosting the first hobby hop, it was loved by so many of you that we want to bring it back! 🥳 To make it more fun, we're adding the flea market component where you can exchange or sell your preloved goods, or... discover new gems while learning about their owners' stories.

By joining us, you're not just attending an event, you're supporting our mission to keep our hobbies accessible and engaging for everyone. 🙌

What We Have to Offer?

This is your chance to choose from a wide range of creative pursuits on the same day. You can choose between self-guided or guided experience, and when you check out, please select which guided experience you want to take. 🫶

We’ve designed the day with activities happening at different time slots, if more than one interests you, you can totally attend two activities on the same day! 😮

Interested in Being a Flea Market "Vendor"?

If you have preloved goods that you are looking to give out, exchange, or sell, we would love to have you here to help these goodies circulate instead of creating more new things. 😌 The bonus is that you might strike an interesting convo with the person that is going to continue loving them! 💕

We are also looking for hobbyists who would like to offer up their skills on the spot! If you would like to try your hand at engaging with others in this way, come set up a small stand with us! 🙌

If you've decided to partake, please complete the sign up form here! We kindly ask for $15 to help chip in for the venue cost for 3.5 hours, or perhaps you can think of it as it a donation to sustainability and thriving community engagement. 😜

Approval is done through a first-come-first-serve basis (and fitting to who we're looking for), currently we only have 8 spots so come grab it fast and join the fun! 🤩

Activity Details & Host Bios

Portrait sketching workshop (with Kiara)

A guided workshop to practice sketching of a person from a reference photo, if you are fast like Kiara and finishes that early, then you can also sketch yourself or person of your choosing - beginners are encouraged.

Host Bio: My name is Kiara and I've been drawing for as long as I remember! It's a hobby that serves me well because it allows me to pay attention to details of things that I otherwise wouldn't have noticed!

Water coloring workshop (with Lucas)

During the workshop we'll go over the basics of water color, technique, color mixing and theory. Lucas will bring a variety of fruit so it's easy to practice from a simple shape, but feel free to paint whatever your imagination can think of.

Host Bio: I enjoy painting in water colour as a hobby, but also in oil and acrylic as well. I love to draw anything i find cool or interesting, thats often nature, fantasy, sci-fi.

Junk journaling social (with Gaya)

Join us for a fun, relaxing collaging/junk journalling afternoon! We'll go over some basics of composition and layout techniques, but you're free to create whatever you'd like.

Feel free to bring a piece of ephemera you want to journal (receipt, photo booth strip, etc.) or come empty handed and make some collage art! All materials will be provided.

Host Bio: gaya is a multidisciplinary creative, obsessed with capturing memories in any way possible, through photography, junk journalling, videography, or anything else.

Time capsule self-care card social (with Ruhao)

A gentle pause in the chaos. Take a moment to write a message to your future self the one who might be struggling, doubting, or just needing a little reminder that they’re doing okay.

You can fill your care card with words of comfort, encouragement, or wisdom from your present self. Later, when life feels heavy, this card will find its way back to you like a time capsule of kindness, reminding you that you’ve always had your own back.

Host Bio: A girlie who loves whimsical activities and currently testing her free will to the maximum (legally)

Crocheting workshop (with Amy)

Join Amy in her guided workshop to learn the basic stitches of crochet and create your own bookmark or leaf sprout to take home!

Host Bio: I am a hands-on artist at heart and love making things for people. Crochet is great as it is a free flow type of textile art and you can create anything your heart desires. From bags to keychains to sweaters, I have crocheted it all!!

The People Behind the Event

We started as a group of people who wanted to stay connected with our passions but also with friends. By sharing our hobbies, we found a low-stakes and fun way to make new friends and deepen existing bonds. 👯

We have been running free community events every week, with attendees chipping in to cover materials costs when needed. 💵 Events like this help us continue supporting our community members' creative pursuit, while also help raise community funds to purchase supplies, keep costs low for everyone, and pay for any potential rental fees that might occur. 💪

Your support helps us continue to build a welcoming community where we can all explore and share our passions. 🥰 If you want to see more events like this, please support by attending the event or donating to us! If interested, we'd also love to connect and share our experiences with anyone wanting to build a similar community. 🏠
