Workshop with Shil Ghosh
Many climate ideas are technically sound but fail on cost. This hands-on workshop shows you how to test an idea’s economics early, before you build anything.
Alongside Shil Ghosh, COO of Mission Zero Tech, you’ll:
Find out what a Techno-Economic Analysis is and why it is important
Start with an assigned climate problem area and narrow it to one specific problem
Sketch a solution and compare what it costs today with what it could cost
Identify the three variables that most affect whether your idea beats the status quo
Leave with one clear question to investigate next, and a plan for how to answer it
It’s a pen-and-paper activity in small groups. No spreadsheets, finance knowledge or a startup idea needed.
How this connects to the Climate Pre-Accelerator
🚨 ESSENTIAL SKILLS FOR THE PA!!
This workshop covers the groundwork to validate your ideas: a specific problem, a rough view of the economics, and a clear next question. Cost logic comes up again in the PA’s business-model week, so you’ll arrive with the skills already in hand. Anything you sketch here will be valuable in your application (and final pitch!)
P.S. The Pre-Accelerator is CEC’s 9-week venture-building programme for students - idea -> pitch! (Jan to Mar - applications open in Nov!)
