Crafting a Standout CV for Service Design Roles
Welcome to the Service Design Careers’ 2026 series.
This is a 5-part webinar series designed to help service designers (and designers from tangential fields like product design, UI/UX design, and design research) build their career narrative and land their dream role.
This specific ticket is for the second session of the series: ‘Crafting a Standout CV’.(Note: If you’d like to book a bundled ticket and receive a 20% discount, you can find the link here: https://luma.com/il4u6uys
Your CV often has to get past a machine before a person ever reads it. Once it does, a hiring manager may give it under a minute. It has to work for both readers.
This session takes you through every part of a service design CV, from beating applicant tracking systems to explaining what kind of designer you are.
What we’ll cover
Understanding the Objective: Defining clear goals for your CV tailored to the specific roles you seek.
Making the CV ATS-Friendly: Strategies to optimize your CV for Applicant Tracking Systems to ensure it passes automated screenings.
In-Depth Guidance on Each Section: Detailed advice on crafting effective personal statements, experience descriptions, skills listings, and education sections.
Articulating Your Design Practice: How to clearly communicate your unique approach and methodology in service design.
Talking About Transferable Skills: Highlighting skills that cross disciplines and enhance your candidacy in diverse design roles.
Who it’s for
Anyone applying for service design or related roles who wants a CV that gets interviews, whether you’re writing your first one or reworking an old one.

About your host
I’m Disha, a senior service designer at the Cabinet Office (UK Civil Service) and founder of Service Design Careers. I’ve worked across the public and private sectors, including sustainability, pharma, mobility and luxury, with organisations like Google, Spotify, Sanofi and Camden Council. I lecture at the Royal College of Art, UAL, Glasgow School of Art, Politecnico di Milano and KISD, and have spoken at TEDx, Service Design Network and SDinGov.
I started Service Design Careers because I kept meeting talented designers who struggled to turn their skills into the right role. These sessions distil what I’ve learned from mentoring them.
