Can English become a real programming language?
Join us for a special Santa Cruz Builders Night with the creators of LOGOS, a new programming language from the Logicaffeine project that lets people express programs and formal logic using structured, readable English.
LOGOS asks a big question:
What would programming look like if the language we used to describe an idea could also become the language used to execute and verify it?
This is not simply an AI assistant generating conventional code behind the scenes. LOGOS is a full programming-language and compiler project with its own lexer, parser, type system, abstract syntax tree, compiler, interpreter, virtual machine, JIT, theorem prover, language server, command-line tools, and web development environment.
In its imperative mode, developers can write executable programs using English-like instructions and compile them into efficient code. In its logic mode, LOGOS can translate natural-language statements into formal first-order logic—making assumptions, relationships, ambiguity, and reasoning visible and testable.
For example, LOGOS can distinguish between different interpretations of a sentence, maintain context across multiple statements, resolve references such as “he” or “it,” reason about quantifier scope, and connect natural-language claims to a formal proof engine.
At Builders Night, the creators will take us inside the project and explore:
Why they decided to build a programming language around natural English
How LOGOS turns sentences into structured and executable programs
The difference between AI-generated code and a true natural-language compiler
How the parser handles ambiguity, context, types, and meaning
How English statements become first-order logic and formal proofs

We’ll see live examples, examine how the language works under the hood, and discuss where natural-language programming succeeds, where it breaks, and what still needs to be invented.
