​During Super Crawl weekend, Corduroy Earth is hosting a cozy songwriters' showcase with support from the City of Hamilton and Canada's Music Incubator (CMI) through the Groundwork: Live Promoter Development Program.

​The evening features three artists that have grown a strong community around their work in Hamilton:

​About the Artists

​Alex Whorms

​Alex Whorms (pronounced warms) crafts music that is a genre unto itself. The singer-songwriter and screen composer flawlessly blends indie, rock, pop, jazz and cinematic styles into a sound that is at once intimate, anthemic and unforgettable. Growing up in Pickering, Ontario, she found early inspiration in fellow hometown artist Sarah Slean, the theatricality of Tori Amos, and the eccentric grit of Fiona Apple, shaping her distinct piano-driven style. But Whorms rarely sits at the piano, she's on her feet dancing as she plays, with a voice that dares you to feel it all.

​Now based in Hamilton, Alex has released four EPs, won a Hamilton Arts Award and played major festivals including Toronto Pride, Supercrawl, and Canadian Music Week. Her work has appeared on over 30 CBC Radio shows and on national TV. She has composed the soundtracks to award-winning documentaries and, as a contributor to CBC Music, she writes articles and appears on camera to share stories about Canadian music and culture.

​Her live performances channel honesty and drive, welcoming listeners who are ready to embrace their shadows and move forward with their jagged edges intact.

​Luiz Grante

​Luiz Grante is a Brazilian-born singer-songwriter, producer, and musical theatre performer based in Hamilton, Ontario. His music lives somewhere between indie, folk, and alternative, driven by storytelling, collaboration, and soulful performances. A Queer, Gay Latino artist, Luiz brings his full self into everything he creates.

​A graduate of Toronto's Randolph Academy, he's performed in productions like RENT! and American Idiot (Lower Ossington Theatre), as well as Curtains and The Trojan Women (The Annex Theatre). In 2025, he released the single "mango tree," supported by the City Enrichment Fund.

​Luiz is deeply involved in Hamilton's music scene, constantly writing, producing, and collaborating with local artists. He's also part of Shaky Knees Club, a songwriting collective focused on community, craft, and showing up for each other.

​Abby Rose

​Abby Rose is a Hamilton-based singer-songwriter sharing stories through music. Ever since picking up the guitar at age nine, she's used writing as a therapeutic tool, through good times and through bad times. After taking a few years off, she's returning to her acoustic, storytelling roots with hopes that sharing her songs can help make people feel less alone.
