About Event

The AISym4MED Final Event will take place in Brussels on the 15 October 2026 and will mark the culmination of four years of collaboration under the Horizon Europe project AISym4MED. The event is designed as a multidisciplinary forum, bringing together policymakers, researchers, At its core, AISym4MED addresses one of the most pressing challenges in European healthcare innovation: how to enable access to high-quality health data while ensuring full compliance with privacy and ethical standards. Through the development of a platform combining synthetic data, federated technologies and privacy-preserving mechanisms, the project contributes to a more secure and trustworthy AI ecosystem.

The final event will pursue several objectives. First, it will showcase the key results achieved, including the platform itself, its technological building blocks and its validation in real-world clinical use cases. Through these demonstrations, participants will gain insight into how AISym4MED brings together innovative privacy-preserving approaches to support AI development in healthcare while addressing challenges related to data access, privacy and trust. The clinical use cases will illustrate the project's contribution to advancing clinically meaningful AI and demonstrate how its different technological components work together to enable secure, collaborative and reliable medical research.

Second, it will translate these results into concrete policy insights, linking them to current European priorities such as the AI Act and the European Health Data Space. Third, it will create a space for dialogue among stakeholders, facilitating exchange between research, policy and practice. Finally, it will explore opportunities for the uptake and sustainability of the project's results beyond its duration.

A central moment of the event will be the Policy Roundtable - AI Act, GDPR and health data governance, which will explore the legal, ethical and governance challenges surrounding the development of clinically meaningful AI in healthcare. Bringing together experts from different sectors, the discussion will address the practical implications of balancing data protection, privacy-preserving technologies and clinical utility, while ensuring robust evidence, fairness, accountability and patient safety. The roundtable will also reflect on the opportunities and limitations of approaches such as synthetic data, federated learning and secure processing environments, considering how organisations can navigate an evolving regulatory landscape while fostering trustworthy and impactful AI innovation.

Through these elements, the event will convey a clear message: trustworthy AI in healthcare depends on trustworthy data, and innovation must go hand in hand with privacy, transparency and ethical considerations. The event will therefore be positioned not only as a closing moment, but as a bridge between research outcomes and future EU policy developments.
