OpenFed: Ask the AI Fed Chair
One day before the Fed announces its July rate decision, OpenFed's AI Fed Chair is going to hold a meeting and walk through its own.
Some background on what OpenFed is. It's a system that reconstructs Fed decisions using five AI policymakers who each weigh the economy differently, read the same data the Fed sees, argue with each other, and vote. We ran it on all 263 Fed meetings going back to 1994 and it predicted the real decision 259 times (98.48% predictive accuracy). It also sets its own optimal rate on the side, which is what the numbers say the rate should be if you strip out the politics and the precedent.
At this meeting the AI Chair will give its statement on the July decision, explain how it landed there, and then it's open to questions from whoever shows up.
Bring difficult ones. Push it on its call, ask why it lands where the Fed doesn't, ask what it would do in their seat. You might trade rates, work in policy, or just want to see if it holds up when someone pushes back. Any of those is reason enough, and please join.
The Fed goes on the 29th. The AI Chair goes first.
