DAY 1: Ceramic Pendants with Vicky!
Let’s Make Ceramic Pendants with Vicky!
In this TWO DAY workshop, you'll make your own ceramic pendants for a necklace, bag charm or just a good luck charm.
NOTE: This is a TWO DAY workshop. Part one is Wednesday, October 14th. Part two is Monday October 19th.
Join us for a two-day workshop where ceramicist, tattoo artist and designer, Vicky Florio, will introduce you to the art of mini-ceramics. In this two day workshop, you’ll be decorating and glazing one-of-a-kind pendants and beads before finally assembling it into the necklace or bag charm of your dreams.
In the first session, Vicky will teach you the fundamentals of underglaze painting through demonstrations and hands-on practice, decorating your own pre-bisqued ceramic pendants and beads. You will explore techniques like layering color, brushwork and creating contrast and pattern on small, organic forms. In the second session, you'll assemble your finished pieces into wearable or carryable creations, such as a necklace, keychain, or bag charm. You'll leave with a one-of-a-kind piece of ceramic jewelry that's entirely your own.
This workshop is designed for people of all skill levels and offers an approachable entry into ceramic decorating, glazing and jewelry making. We hope you take your new foundational knowledge and continue on your own ceramics journey!
You’ll leave with at least one, and up to four, finished pendants (depending on your own individual timing), and at least one fully finished necklace or keychain/bagcharm. You’ll also leave with an assortment of ceramic beads hand decorated by you!

About the Instructor: Vicky Florio is an artist living in Queens, New York. She received a BFA in Printmaking from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design. After learning a series of complicated, precise, and sometimes tedious techniques in school, she has gone on to explore a wide range of mediums including ceramics, glass, woodcut, fiber arts, and tattooing. Victoria uses a maximalist sensibility across all of her work, finding inspiration in everything from Grecian vases, to 1960s cartoons, to vintage fabric, to bugs. Favoring a “more is more” philosophy, she employs surprising color combinations, bumpy textures, and a sense of humor to create a unique body of work.

Our classes are intentionally very small so you'll have your instructor's attention throughout the class. Questions are welcome at every step.
