​Steven is an ASC, DGA, WGA cinematographer, director, screenwriter, and author with a Hollywood career spanning nearly five decades. He shot the Oscar-winning film Monster, directed and wrote Decoding Annie Parker (Sloan Award winner), and helmed Last Call with John Malkovich. Steven has also been recognized for his cinematography on Magic City and received the Best Artistic Contribution Award for Like Water for Chocolate alongside Emmanuel Lubezki. An acclaimed author as well, his book Film Production was the top-selling filmmaking textbook and has introduced countless film lovers to the craft.
