Investment Talk: VC Unfiltered
What does venture capital look like from the other side of the table?
Join Startup Grind Tunis for an open conversation with Hassen Arfaoui, Principal at 216 Capital, about the realities of early-stage investing, the decisions behind the scenes and the lessons founders and investors can learn from each other.
Alongside his experience investing in African startups, Hassen brings an international perspective through his selection for VC Unlocked: Silicon Valley, a programme developed by 500 Global and the Stanford Engineering Center for Global & Online Education.
Together, we’ll explore:
• How investors think about potential, risk and conviction.
• What shapes an investment decision beyond the pitch deck.
• The realities of building relationships between founders and VCs.
• Perspectives from Silicon Valley and their relevance to Tunisia and African ecosystems.
• What founders and investors can learn from different approaches to venture capital.
Expect candid insights, thoughtful reflection and an interactive discussion.
A few ground rules for a useful conversation
Come to exchange perspectives, challenge ideas respectfully and ask questions others can learn from.
Keep questions focused on experiences, decision-making and broader lessons. Individual pitch-deck reviews, application updates and follow-ups on previous investment conversations should be handled separately.
We’ll also respect confidentiality: specific deals, founders and internal investment discussions may not be open for discussion.
The aim is to leave with a clearer understanding of venture capital and better questions for your next steps.
