Our February breakfast session will be with Karin Riechenberg, discussing her role as a Director of Stewardship at Sands Capital Management.

Speaker Bio

Karin Riechenberg is the Director of Stewardship at Sands Capital Management, where she leads the stewardship and ESG integration efforts throughout the firm. Her role includes working with the investment team to identify and assess material ESG risks and opportunities across strategies, as well as driving Sands’ active ownership approach though engagements with portfolio companies, proxy voting, and external collaborations.

She previously worked at Cartica Management, where she held various positions related to ESG, corporate governance and macro strategy. Karin started her career in macroeconomic and political risk analysis, with a focus on Russia and the CIS. Later, she specialized in corporate governance and eventually ESG. Among other things, she worked in the Corporate Governance Department at Deloitte CIS in Moscow and researched credit risk in Central Asia at CRIF S.p.A. in Bologna, Italy.

Karin holds an MA in International Relations and Economics from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) with a concentration in Energy, Resources, and the Environment. She earned her BA from the University of Exeter in International Relations and Russian. Karin has obtained the CFA Institute Certificate in ESG Investing, as well as the SASB FSA Credential, and has passed the GRI Standards exam.
