VBC Creative Writing Workshop

​What happens when you give a character a handful of details that don’t seem to belong together?

​Come with a work in progress, a half-formed idea, or nothing at all. The workshop is for writers and creatives at any stage. You’ll leave with a character and story premise you can keep exploring on your own, as well as new concepts and techniques to apply to your existing material or whatever new stories you begin to write next.

​Taught by Jared Sayet, a fiction writer and creative writing instructor who leads the creative writing workshop program at the University of Pennsylvania and teaches workshops around LA. His stories have appeared in North American Review, Booth, and Chiron Review, and received two Pushcart Prize nominations in 2025.
