Keeping Cool on a Hotter Planet
A New York Climate Week Event Organized by CoolPact Capital
The increasing frequency of extreme heat events is a reality in many parts of the world but especially dangerous in countries with limited access to cooling and power. Cooling is essential for residential buildings but also farmers and construction workers, manufacturing, and cold chains essential for delivery of food and vaccines. Many of the most vulnerable countries such as India also depend on coal for electricity; cooling systems are a growing share of peak demand resulting in yet greater CO2 emissions and further warming. Efforts to identify and implement strategies to address these complex challenges are an increasing focus of technology innovators, policy makers, financiers, and civil society. This event will bring together representatives from organizations actively engaged in these efforts to share ideas and promote greater collaboration to address the cooling challenge.
