Back by popular demand after our first Hair Flair Pop-Up filled to capacity in less than two hours! Inspired by the Crown Chakra, this playful hands-on lab invites you to express your inner light, creativity, and personal style through wearable hair art that feels uniquely your own.
We’ll begin by gathering together, getting acquainted, introducing the helpers, and creating a spirit of friendship and creative connection. From there, we’ll walk through the materials and creative stations so you know what’s available, where to find it, which tools to use for different materials, when to use wire cutters instead of scissors, and helpful tips for working safely with glue guns.
Then we’ll offer a short lesson on the possibilities: cascading hair streamers, flower and feather crowns, and crown-and-cascade combo pieces.
Cascading hair streamers are flowing strands of yarn, ribbon, lace, fabric, and textured fibers tied onto a hair band or clip to add color, movement, and flair. Flower, jewel, and feather crowns can be soft and whimsical, earthy and boho, bright and playful, or bold and dramatic. You can make one piece, several pieces, or combine your streamers and crown into a one-of-a-kind festival headpiece.
This is an open creative flow rather than a step-by-step class. Come ready to connect, play, explore, share ideas, and let your imagination lead.
Provided: stretchy hair ties, yarn and ribbon, lots of flowers, headbands, glue guns, and plenty of creative ideas! A limited selection of feathers will be available. Bring your own feathers if you want specific colors, larger sizes, or a fuller, more dramatic look.
Materials reimbursement: $22
This lab uses lots of beautiful shared materials. Your $22 contribution helps replenish the supplies, fibers, textures, and embellishments that make the creative magic possible. After you register, Mary will text you the location and Venmo payment link.
Treasure hunt before you come! Bring any feathers or extra materials you’d love to use or repurpose, such as yarn, ribbon, lace, fabric strips, and other fun textures for the hair cascades, plus rhinestones, jewelry you no longer wear, beads, charms, decorative buttons, fabric scraps, embellished trims, or old jeweled summer sandals that can be cut apart and transformed into crown accents.
