Madhya Pradesh Data Sprint @ Bhopal, by India Sand Watch
Through our India Sand Watch project, we're undertaking a deeper initiative to understand and re-imagine sand mining policies in Madhya Pradesh to enable action for the protection of rivers in MP. With this context, Veditum & India Sand Watch are hosting our eighth data sprint, and this is our second time focusing on MP.
Veditum’s ‘Data Sprints’ aim to bring together communities of open-data enthusiasts, and people concerned about rivers - particularly about the issue of river sand mining, to participate in a collective, intensive data digitisation effort.
This data is then open, and freely accessible on the India Sand Watch platform for anyone wishing to use it for on-ground action, research, media reports, legal action etc.
The outcome of the sprint is a systematic, structured compilation of data on sand mining locations, news, and survey reports for rivers from Madhya Pradesh - which will serve as a great resource for everyone involved with the issue.
Joining the Data Sprint with a laptop is recommended. Check out outputs from our past Data Sprints here.
