What is The Royal Company of Merchants?
The Royal Company of Merchants of the City of Edinburgh is Scotland’s largest livery company, with a history dating back more than 800 years. It brings together professionals dedicated to supporting the city’s civic, cultural and economic life.
As a major charitable organisation, the Company focuses on education, business start-ups, and the provision of affordable housing and essential support for young, elderly and vulnerable people. Based at the prestigious Merchants Hall, it operates as a modern philanthropic organisation shaped by a long tradition of civic giving.
