Workshop - Designing a Polished SaaS Onboarding UI with Guest Designer Gary Liu
Great UI is often the difference between a prototype that feels rough and a product people actually want to use. In this workshop, we’ll focus on how to take a functional Bolt project and make it feel more polished, intentional, and production-ready through better layout, visual hierarchy, interaction patterns, and component choices.
We’ll be joined live by Gary Liu, our graphics and UI designer, who will share practical design tips. We’ll create the app in Bolt, send it over to Gary, and let you watch how a professional designer approaches UI refinement inside an active project.
What we're building:
A SaaS onboarding wizard that collects user preferences and sets up their workspace. We’ll scaffold the product flow in Bolt, then bring Gary in as a guest UI designer to elevate the experience with stronger structure, cleaner screens, better component choices, and real-time design feedback.
Outcomes:
By the end of this workshop, you'll understand:
How to use Plan Mode to scaffold enough product context for a strong design pass
How a professional UI designer evaluates a working app and decides what to improve first
How Designers can use targeted prompts, visual references, and UI libraries to upgrade the interface without breaking functionality
How to seamlessly collaborate on the same Bolt project using the new ‘real-time multiplayer’ functionality
