Ever wondered how props are made for film, television and theatre?
Come into the LAB and make one.
LAB CAST is a two-hour hands-on introduction to professional prop making for young Makers aged 8–14.
Working together in pairs, Makers will explore moulding and casting by creating a mould of their own hand, mixing and measuring materials, and casting a unique object.
Along the way we'll experiment with ratios, materials and processes, learn why prop makers make the choices they do, and discover that getting a bit messy is often part of finding out how things work.
Every Maker leaves with something they've made themselves — and perhaps a few new ways of looking at how things are made.
Parents and carers are very welcome to stay, watch, lend a hand if they'd like, and grab a coffee while we work.
No previous making experience needed. Curiosity helps.
