Getting into VC
When we talk about “getting into VC,” it’s useful to zoom out and look at the broader early-stage funding landscape. Venture capital is one part of that ecosystem, but founders also raise from angel investors, syndicates, family offices and other private investors, most often as a first source of funding. Thus understanding how those decisions get made gives you a much more complete picture of how early-stage capital actually works.
Our speakers will therefore take us into the practical side of angel investing: how someone goes from being interested in investing to making a first investment, what “being ready” actually means, how syndicates work, what investors look for in a company, how much due diligence is enough, and how to think about risk, returns and portfolio construction.
It will be a very practical and candid conversation, with lessons that are useful whether you’re interested in investing yourself, working in VC, fundraising as a founder, or simply understanding how capital gets allocated at the earliest stages.
