Field Notes 08: Kashif Spotlight
Field Notes 08 is our latest installment of a vinyl listening series led by industry selectors and their approach to record curation.
The listening session will run approximately 60 minutes.
Custom sound by House Under Magic.
Vinyl stocked by Freakout Spot will be available for purchase.
Our selector for this eighth session is Mindy Ossi, a New York-based video editor, animator, and motion designer. She started “Recent Sounds” as a passion project to spotlight niche and emerging artists across genres - everything from Middle Eastern funk to Korean rap. She’s always down for a listening party and a chat about, no surprise, music.
This session spotlights an R&B producer icon Kashif: the Brooklyn-raised keyboardist, singer, and producer whose synthesizer-driven sound helped define post-disco R&B. At the center is his 1983 self-titled debut for Arista, home to "Stone Love," "I Just Gotta Have You (Lover Turn Me On)," and "Help Yourself to My Love," alongside selections from his production catalog, including tracks from Evelyn "Champagne" King, Whitney Houston, and more.
Tickets are limited as the program will be intimate. Car Part Time members will receive a code for complimentary tickets.
Doors close promptly at 7:00 PM and the listening session will begin immediately. Out of respect for the experience and fellow guests, we ask that conversation be kept to a minimum during the listening portion of the program.
Following the session, the space will open up for conversation and connection as guests are invited to explore a selection of themed cars, spend time throughout the showroom and garage, and enjoy the atmosphere while the selector continues spinning into the evening.
Beer and a natural wine selection will be available for purchase.
