About Event

Different business models require different IP strategies. Even within the life sciences space, there is no one-size-fits-all solution. Understanding how to align your IP strategy with your business strategy is critical for attracting investment and sustaining growth.

In this virtual session, we will cover how different forms of IP can be appropriate for various business models in the life sciences. We will provide tips on how innovators in different life science sectors can structure their IP strategy to better support their commercial objectives and plan for potential disruptions.

In this session, you will hear from Walter Chan, Associate, Lawyer and Patent Agent at Marks & Clerk Canada, who will discuss issues life sciences startups should be aware of when devising and implementing an intellectual property strategy, including:

  • how to choose IP protection that aligns with your business model;

  • how life sciences IP can intersect with regulatory considerations; and

  • how to refine and refocus the IP strategy as the business grows.

This session is aimed at life sciences founders at any stage in the start-up life-cycle, from creating an IP strategy that supports business model execution, to leveraging their IP position for growth and exit.

SPEAKERS:
