Join Out in Climate London for a London Climate Action Week event exploring the changing climate of London, and how we can ensure climate justice in adapting to a warming world.
Kicking off at 5.30pm we’ll begin with a fireside chat with Mete Coban, London Deputy Mayor for Energy and Environment. Mete leads on the Mayor’s climate action agenda for the capital, but his career has always been about more than policy from the top down. In Hackney, he helped deliver a £61 million Green New Deal and championed community energy projects that put clean power in the hands of local organisations. Mete’s experience integrates how we make London greener, but also fairer; how we turn climate ambition into everyday benefits; and how we make sure communities that have too often been excluded are part of designing the transition.
Secondly, we’ll be speaking to two Londoners who have expertise in climate action, as well as lived experience of how important climate action is for communities:
Hayley Moller is the co-founder of Out in Climate - London and Director of Marketing for Material Evolution, a low-carbon cement company, with significant experience in the climate issues facing the built environment. She will be sharing her lived experience of navigating the busiest week of her professional calendar, London Climate Action Week, with the realities of also being the mother of a young child in a changing climate that closed childcare, transport and recreational infrastructure, as well as her expertise in both adaptation and mitigation in the built environment.
Chris Galpin is a Senior Adviser in UK Energy Policy at E3G, the organization that produces London Climate Action Week. An engineer by training, Chris has a decade of experience in renewable energy on the engineering and policy sides, having previously worked in the UK government on clean energy policy. Chris is also the Fuel Poverty Director at Croydon Community Energy, an organization delivering renewable energy generation and energy efficiency measures to community sites in Croydon. He will be sharing his experience ensuring clean energy systems, especially those grounded in the community, deliver benefits equitably across different communities, as well as his expertise in clean energy policy at the national level.
This Pride event is a space for connection, reflection and collective imagination — celebrating the power of queer community in shaping London’s climate future.
