Stellar 14 build days
Over 14 days (5 to 17 October), we got together to write real code, break things, and deploy actual contracts to Stellar. It all ends with Demo Day this Saturday.
Whether you'd never touched Rust before or you were already building backend systems, the goal was to build solid, transferable skills you can use anywhere. We used AI tools to make sense of the Rust compiler, worked through open-source Git workflows together, and built working Soroban smart contracts from scratch.
What We Did
Rust Without the Headache: the borrow checker, structs, enums, and error handling, with AI coding assistants to decode compiler errors fast.
Real Git Habits: forking repos, branching properly, and collaborating through real Pull Requests. At Meetup 1, the room opened 88 PRs in a single bug hunt.
Smart Contracts on Stellar: compiling to WebAssembly, using the Stellar CLI, and working with the Stellar Asset Contract (SAC).
In-Person Build Days: two Saturdays in Accra with bug hunts, live PR merging, and demos.
Demo Day: Saturday 17 October, 12 to 3pm GMT, Payaza Africa, Labone
Teams of 3 to 5 demo what they built during Stellar 14, live and in person. The day also includes:
A short trading talk by Ernest
Ansh Mathur from Project NANDA (MIT Media Lab) on how AI agents discover and trust each other
Mihai, CEO of XOXNO, with a talk and Q&A
The winners announcement to close the day
Prizes
Top 2 projects: nominated for the SDF Instaward, worth up to $15,000 in XLM
3 runners-up: a $20 Cursor plan each
Judging is done by a Stellar Ghana panel and is based on the work done during the program.
Submit your project by Friday 16 October, 11:59pm GMT: Open Google Form
What to Bring
