Our Hero Founder Series with Marc-Alexander Christ at The Delta Campus

Can you build a global fintech company from Europe that empowers millions of small businesses to get paid, manage their money, and grow and sustain that momentum for more than a decade?

Marc-Alexander Christ has done exactly that.

As Co-founder of SumUp, Marc has helped build one of the world’s leading financial technology companies for small merchants. What started as a simple card reader solution has evolved into a global fintech platform offering payments, business accounts, lending, and software tools. Today, SumUp operates in more than 30 markets across Europe, the US, and beyond, serving millions of businesses worldwide.

His journey reflects bold vision, disciplined execution, and the resilience required to scale a fintech company through intense competition, regulatory complexity, and shifting market conditions. From early stage fundraising to billion euro funding rounds and strategic acquisitions, Marc has been at the center of SumUp’s international expansion and long term growth.

At The Delta Campus, he will join us for an in depth conversation about building infrastructure for small businesses, scaling across borders, and leading through different phases of company building.

In a fireside chat, we will explore what it really takes to build a global payments platform from Europe, how SumUp expanded into new markets and product categories, and what founders need to understand about capital, culture, and operational excellence when scaling at speed.

A conversation about financial empowerment, global ambition, and how to build a fintech company that stands the test of time.

Gründerszene x The Delta is the monthly pulse of the Berlin startup ecosystem, bringing together around 200 founders, investors, operators, corporates, and enablers who are building the future together.

This is the place for real conversations, meaningful connections, and ideas that aim to make an impact from Berlin.
