Lerotholi Ave Sundays (monthly)
Street Experiments South Africa brings its Langa edition to Lerotholi Avenue again starting on the 25th January. On the last Sunday of each month until April 2026, the street becomes a safe, car-free space for the community to walk, cycle, play and connect. For this Sunday we will have the following:
BikeBus group ride from Bree Street Sundays to Lerotholi Avenue. RSVP here.
Zeitz MOCAA “On the Move” mobile museum bringing art and creative workshops into the street
Kids play activities in the street including chalk, cricket, soccer, and a bouncing castle
Free tennis clinics with Coach Inny, focused on quick and fun skills-building in the street
Kids creativity zones hosted by Maya Bogaert and Paul Grose.
ReBuilt Pavilion installation open for anyone to enjoy, connected to 16 on Lerotholi Art Gallery
Live jazz performance by Dr Tete Mbambisa (piano) from 15:00 to 17:00
Fresh fruit and vegetables from AgriHub, alongside community market moments
Local food and culture near Lerotholi Avenue, including the Smiley Market experience.
This monthly open-street experiment builds on the momentum created by Langa Bicycle Hub and Open Streets Africa, showing what happens when neighbourhood streets work for people first.
The Langa edition is presented by Young Urbanists, 16 on Lerotholi, Bridges Academy, the Office of the Executive Mayor and the City of Cape Town, with support from the Safe Passage Programme and Langa Bicycle Hub.
