Bridge to Youth Leadership Presentation
βπ Bridge to Youth Leadership Presentations π
βA community presentation celebrating youth leadership in environmental justice
βJoin Basilica Bio for the culminating event of our Bridge to Youth Leadership (BTYL) program.
βEach year, BTYL brings together a cohort of Seattle-area high school students to learn about environmental justice through weekly workshops and guest speakers from Basilica Bio and the broader community. Throughout the program, students explore topics ranging from fire ecology and the social determinants of health to queer ecology and environmental justice history.
βFor their final projects, students select an environmental justice topic and create a zine, annotated bibliography, and public presentation sharing their research.
βAt this event, our 2026 BTYL cohort will present their work to the community. Topics include:
ββ’ The impacts of data centers on communities
β’ Foreign policy and environmental justice in the Global South
β’ Heatwaves and mental health across economically diverse countries
β’ The legacy of redlining and community health
β’ Food injustice and health disparities
β’ Air pollution and public health
βAttendees will also receive print versions of student zines and have the opportunity to celebrate our interns as they graduate from the BTYL program.
βThis event centers youth voices and highlights the importance of empowering young people with the tools to participate in environmental justice conversations and community leadership.
We can't wait to see you there,
βQuinn & Nina, BTYL Coordinators at Basilica Bio
