About Event

Artificial intelligence is beginning to reshape nearly every layer of healthcare, from how patients access and navigate care to how clinicians work, health systems operate, and new drugs and treatments are developed. But the gap between what AI could change and what healthcare organizations can actually deploy remains significant.

Where is AI already creating meaningful value in healthcare? What does it take to move from pilots to scaled implementation inside complex health systems? Which problems are worth solving with AI, and where is the technology still falling short? And as a new generation of AI-native health companies emerges, how will the relationship between startups, providers, payers, investors, and patients change?

Join us for an evening exploring the future of health and AI. Together with healthcare executives, founders, investors, clinicians, and technology leaders, we'll examine what is actually being built and deployed today, the barriers still standing in the way, and where the most consequential opportunities may emerge next.

Our expert panelists will be:

  • Ashley Schmidt, MSPH, is VP/GM at Dandelion Health, where she is part of the growth team and leads the company’s partnership with the American Heart Association, AI TORCH (Testing Outcomes and Readiness in Clinical Healthcare), advancing clinical AI with evidence. She has more than 15 years of experience in health across over 30 countries. She led a system-wide sepsis AI rollout across 20 hospitals at Cleveland Clinic, alongside enterprise healthcare sales across the U.S. Her 7+ years in health AI began at a startup building supply chain algorithms, backed by one of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s first AI grants, which was later deployed in Sierra Leone during COVID. She was also part of the founding team of a women’s health and hormones startup. Her career started with an internship in Neglected Tropical Diseases at the World Health Organization, and a passion for serving vulnerable populations has guided her work ever since. Ashley holds an MSPH from Tulane and is based in Miami Beach, where she’s an avid scuba diver and active in conservation and restoration efforts on Miami Beach’s nearshore reef.

  • Jeremy Schwach is a healthcare technology executive, entrepreneur, and investor with more than 20 years of experience building and scaling companies at the intersection of healthcare and technology. He is the CEO of Hummingbird Healthcare, which focuses on modernizing patient access and improving the operational infrastructure of health systems. Previously, Jeremy led Bluetree Network, one of the nation's leading healthcare IT consulting firms, through its acquisition by Providence in 2019. His experience spans healthcare technology implementation, organizational transformation, and the practical challenges of bringing innovation into complex health systems. He is also an active advisor and investor in emerging technology companies.

Topics we'll explore include:

  • Where AI is creating real value in healthcare today, and where the hype continues to outpace implementation.

  • What it takes to deploy AI inside health systems, from integration and workflow design to adoption, trust, regulation, and organizational change.

  • How AI is changing the economics of healthcare, including administrative burden, clinical productivity, access, cost, and new models of care delivery.

  • The rise of AI-native healthcare companies, and how building a health company differently from day one changes product development, teams, capital requirements, and scale.

  • How the role of the clinician is changing as AI becomes embedded in diagnosis, decision support, documentation, patient communication, and care delivery.

  • The evolving relationship between health systems and startups, including pilots, procurement, partnerships, data access, and what it actually takes for emerging technology to make it into clinical and operational environments.

  • Where investors see the next generation of opportunity across health AI, and which categories may be overbuilt or underestimated.

  • What healthcare could look like five to ten years from now if AI meaningfully changes the cost and capabilities of delivering care.

This is not a conversation about AI replacing doctors or another tour through hypothetical use cases. The goal is to bring together people building, buying, deploying, and investing in healthcare technology for a practical conversation about what is changing now and what comes next.

Hosted by Misfit Labs, a Miami-based AI-native venture studio that partners with founders and institutions to design, build, and scale software companies across healthcare, infrastructure, and enterprise software, incorporating artificial intelligence across the full development lifecycle.
