Building a New Climate Workforce: Any Job Can Be a Climate Job
Everyone talks about the green jobs of the future, but not enough people are having the real conversation about how we actually get there. This talk is changing that. Join the Washington Climate Corps Network in Tacoma for an energizing discussion on what it takes to build a climate workforce from the ground up, with a focus on the people and communities who are too often left out of that conversation.
The heart of this event is about access. Disadvantaged communities across Washington have enormous potential to fuel the emerging climate economy, and this event digs into the practical pathways that make that possible, whether through formal apprenticeships, alternative credentials, or skills-building routes that most workforce conversations overlook. The big idea here is that you do not need a narrow definition of a "climate job" to be part of the climate solution. Nearly any skill, trade, or profession can plug into this growing economy when the right doors are opened.
If you are an entrepreneur, a public servant, a workforce developer, an educator, or just someone who has been wondering how to connect people to meaningful work in the clean economy, this is going to be a morning well spent. Come ready to think differently about what a climate career looks like and who gets to have one.
