Simulating the Future: The En-ROADS Climate Solutions Workshop
The En-ROADS Climate Solutions Workshop is an interactive group experience that uses the En-ROADS climate solutions simulator—a free, easy-to-use, system dynamics model co-developed by Climate Interactive and the MIT Sloan School of Management. En-ROADS gives users the opportunity to test out different climate change solutions, en route to creating a future that limits global warming to well below 2°C from pre-industrial levels, in line with the Paris Agreement. In this 90-minute session, you will get a tour of the En-ROADS simulator, work together to test out your own solutions, build a collective scenario of success, and explore the future you’ve created. To-date, over 516,000 people in 186 countries have experienced En-ROADS, including more than 25,000 leaders in government, business, and civil society. Join us for this dynamic and interactive session to gain practical insights and discover how innovative policies can shape a safer, healthier, more prosperous future.

Your Facilitators
Bethany Patten is the inaugural executive director of the MIT Climate Policy Center–MIT’s “front door” to provide evidence-based climate research for local, state, national, and international policymakers. Previous to this, she served as the Director of Policy and Engagement for the MIT Sloan Sustainability Initiative. As an MIT Sloan faculty member, Patten teaches Sustainable Business Lab and executive education courses. Beyond MIT, she serves as board member and treasurer for the Environmental League of Massachusetts and board member of the Boston Groundwater Trust. Patten holds an MBA from MIT Sloan, an MPA from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, and a BA from Boston College.
Andrew (Drew) Jones is the Executive Director and Co-Founder of Climate Interactive and a Research Affiliate at MIT Sloan. He is an expert on international climate and energy policy, a system dynamics modeler, a speaker, and a creator of policy simulations. Drew's climate policy work has appeared in media outlets such as The New York Times and The Washington Post. He was trained in modeling through degrees from MIT and Dartmouth College and teaches systems thinking and climate policy at MIT Sloan, Stanford, and UNC-Chapel Hill. Drew co-accepted the ASysT Applied Systems Thinking Prize and the System Dynamics Society’s Applications Award as well as Dartmouth College’s Ray W. Smith Award for the most significant contribution to the status of the college. He lives with his family in the mountains of Asheville, North Carolina.
