Quiet Networking - Startups - Vancouver
Are you interested in networking with great people in the startup ecosystem without yelling or awkwardly forcing your way into conversations?
This is an experimental community networking gathering for people who want a high-quality networking experience with a little bit of structure and no noise.
Key things to know:
1) Check-in
When you arrive at 5:30 pm, check in at the spot marked with an X in the images (top of the stairs in Harbour Green Park.) You will receive a sheet of paper that contains a unique sequence of stations for you to visit.
2) Networking stations
The networking stations will be marked with numbered cones on the ground. Each session will consist of a unique group of 4-6 people.
3) Schedule
5:30 - 5:45: Arrival. Collect your sheet. Informal networking.
5:45 - 7:00: Five rounds of networking sessions (12 minute discussions, 3 minute transitions.)
7:00 onwards: Everyone is welcome to stick around and continue unstructured networking.
4) Rotations
Please move to the next station at the times indicated on the sheet. I'll make a friendly reminder with a bell.
5) Discussion questions
The sheets of paper will contain these suggested questions for use in the networking discussions:
- What is your name and what are you currently working on?
- What would you like to learn more about in 2026?
- What is one career lesson you would share with a younger version of yourself?
6) Connecting
I suggest bringing business cards or having the LinkedIn App on your phone and knowing how to use the QR feature.
7) Fun and flexibility
We're all doing this just to have fun and meet new people. If it's not working for you, or you need a breather, there will be no judgement if you step away for a session or leave early.
8) Comfort and safety
There are benches in the area for anyone needing a seat and public park washrooms just down the stairs. No food or water is provided. You may consider bringing sunscreen and sunglasses. Please also remember this is a public outdoor area so keep a close eye on your belongings and be cognizant of members of the public that may be passing through.
