About Event

For decades, UX research has been built on a fundamental truth: understanding users means being with users. But what happens when the most scalable, cost-effective, and always-available research participant isn't human at all?

Join UX Montréal for an evening talk exploring how synthetic data is quietly entering the UX toolkit, promising faster insights without the friction of recruitment, scheduling, or consent.

Our speaker, Prof. Chadi Aoun holds a PhD in Information Systems, alongside academic qualifications in business, education, law, and environmental science. He serves as a Professor and Area Head of the Information Systems Program at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar. His research and teaching span green information systems, sustainability management, e-collaboration, and information technology regulation.

We are no longer just simulating humans; we are simulating humans who are already, in part, simulated. This talk explores that tension, asking what synthetic research methods mean for the future of our practice.
