Walk in the Calgary Pride Parade
βWalk With us at the Calgary Pride Parade π
βWeβre walking in the Calgary Pride Parade, and we would LOVE to have you join us! π
βCome celebrate queer joy, chosen family, and community alongside Girls Who Like to Do Things. Whether youβre part of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community yourself or showing up as an ally, you are so welcome to walk with us.
βYou absolutely do not need to know anyone before coming. As always, coming solo is encouraged, and weβll all be walking together as one big GWLTDT group.
βALL DONATIONS WILL BE GOING TO OUR QUARTERLY FUNDRAISING EFFORTS FOR CENTER FOR SEXUALITY
π
βPARADE DETAILS:
βπ Calgary Pride Parade
π GWLTDT meeting time: 11:00 AM
π Parade begins: 12:00 PM
π Approximate end: 2:30 PM
π Staging area: 9 Avenue S and 11th Street SW in downtown Calgary
βWHO CAN JOIN?
βAll women and gender diverse folks! π
βYou do not have to identify as queer to walk with us. Allies who want to celebrate and support Calgaryβs 2SLGBTQIA+ community are absolutely welcome.
βYou also do not need to already be involved with GWLTDT or know anyone attending. Come by yourself, come with friends, or bring your whole crew.
βIf youβre attending with friends, please have each person register individually so that we have an accurate idea of how many people will be walking with us.
βWHAT TO BRING:
βPlease come prepared for a few hours outside and bring:
βComfortable walking shoes
βWater
βSnacks
βSunscreen
βWeather-appropriate clothing
βAny Pride accessories you want to wear
βYour best Pride energy π
βGWLTDT will also be bringing the signs and flags we create at our Pride sign-decorating event!
βA FEW IMPORTANT NOTES:
βCalgary Pride is a family-friendly event, so please make sure any signs, clothing, or materials you bring are respectful and appropriate for the parade.
βDuring staging and throughout the parade, please follow instructions from Calgary Pride volunteers and GWLTDT organizers. Weβll be walking as a group and want to make sure everyone stays safe and together.
βIf a protest occurs along the route, Calgary Pride asks parade participants not to engage and to continue following instructions from parade staff.
βIf you are considering bringing a pet, please remember that the parade can be loud, crowded, and chaotic. Calgary Pride requires pets to be leashed or contained in a pet backpack, and we recommend only bringing animals that are very comfortable in busy environments.
βBEFORE YOU REGISTER:
βPlease register only if you genuinely intend to attend. Having an accurate headcount will make it much easier for our team to organize our group, communicate staging information, and make sure everyone knows where to meet on parade day.
βWe are SO excited to walk together and celebrate Pride with all of you. ππ
βSee you at the parade!!
