About Event

Connecting for Caring comes to Toronto

Caring for someone is one of the most ordinary and extraordinary things we do, and it often happens out of sight. Connecting for Caring is a cross-Canada tour, from Haida Gwaii to PEI, that makes everyday care visible.

Hosted by Planned Lifetime Advocacy Network and in partnership with the Centre for Social Innovation - join us for an evening of stories, music, art and conversation that celebrates Courage to Care: Ripples of Love in Action, a new collection of reflections, poems, paintings, photos and songs from people across Canada who give and receive care.

Explore contributors’ work, hear readings in their own voices and join small conversations about connection, courage and care.

Connecting for Caring

An inspiring gathering of stories, creative expression and conversation exploring caring not only as something private or personal, but as something that shapes our communities and our shared lives.

Inspired by the book Courage to Care: Ripples of Love in Action, featuring more than 160 stories, poems, photographs and creative expressions from across Canada, this gathering is part of a growing national conversation.

At the heart of the gathering is a question:

What would it mean to become a country that recognizes and strengthens our capacity to care for one another?

Connecting for Caring has four simple intentions: to let people giving and receiving care know they are not alone; to honour caring with beauty; to weave our caring together; and to make support for caring a provincial and national priority.

Come listen, reflect, meet others and imagine what becomes possible when the caring that already surrounds us is recognized, valued and supported.

Because caring may be personal, but none of us does it alone.

Special Guests & Performances

Experience a special collaborative performance by acclaimed Canadian poet and novelist Anne Michaels and musician david sereda, bringing poetry and music together to celebrate the beauty and complexity of caring.

The evening will be hosted and facilitated by Hannah Sung, guiding an inspiring gathering of storytellers, caregivers and community leaders exploring how caring connects us all.

Toronto Speaker Stories lineup includes:
Liv Mendelsohn, Molly Peacock, Christa Couture, Bev Foster, Anne Michaels, Vanessa Reid & David Leonard.

We are grateful to the Canadian Centre for Caregiving Excellence, a program of the Azrieli Foundation Canada, the Co-operators, and to the partners and community members helping make Connecting for Caring possible.
