About Event

We’re back for month three of our monthly movie screening series 🎞️🖤

This month, we’re screening Portrait of Jason — Shirley Clarke’s groundbreaking and deeply intimate portrait of Jason Holliday, a Black gay hustler, performer, and storyteller living in 1960s New York. Filmed over the course of one night, the documentary blurs the line between performance and vulnerability as Jason reflects on identity, survival, loneliness, humor, and the masks we wear to navigate the world.

Through raw conversation and unforgettable charisma, the film captures a complicated and deeply human portrait that still resonates decades later. Portrait of Jason remains a landmark in independent cinema and queer film history for its honesty, experimentation, and emotional depth.

After the screening, we’ll gather for an open discussion centered around the themes of self-expression, performance, identity, and the power of storytelling within Black and queer communities.

refreshments will be served, along with a signature drink inspired by the spirit of the evening 🍸✨

join us for another night of film, conversation, and community as we continue creating intentional spaces for us, by us.
