About Event

Australia’s new climate-related financial disclosure regime under AASB S2 is now in force, with mandatory reporting phased in from 1 January 2025 for Group 1 entities and rolling out to other organisations thereafter.

This 90-minute session provides a clear and practical overview of what the new ASRS requirements mean for your organisation — and what you should be doing now to prepare.

We will unpack:

• The purpose and structure of AASB S2
• The four disclosure pillars: Governance, Strategy, Risk Management, Metrics & Targets
• Climate-related physical and transition risks
• Scenario analysis and financial impacts
• The difference between limited and reasonable assurance
• Materiality and how it must be assessed and reassessed
• The AUASB assurance phase-in timetable
• The Corporations Act implications

Importantly, this session moves beyond theory.

Using a structured “Getting Prepared” checklist aligned to AASB S2, we will explore:

• How to assess your current state of readiness
• What documentary evidence will be required
• How to identify gaps in governance and risk oversight
• What internal stakeholders must be engaged
• How to build a practical implementation roadmap
• How to develop a resourcing and costing strategy
• How to prepare for assurance

The session is designed for:

• Directors and board members
• CFOs and finance teams
• Sustainability and ESG managers
• Risk and governance professionals
• Organisations preparing for mandatory reporting

By the end of the session, participants will understand:

• What compliance actually requires
• What “reasonable assurance” will mean in practice
• How to avoid last-minute compliance risk
• Why climate disclosure is fundamentally a financial risk discipline
• The immediate next steps to take including first steps towards alignment of your organisation's carbon accounting to your financial and management accounting.

The final 30 minutes will be dedicated to live Q&A.
