Build with AI: A hands-on lab for product , design, and innovation teams
Toronto Tech Week · OCAD Waterfront Campus
AI is already changing how the best product and design teams work. Discovery is faster. Research synthesis that took days now takes minutes. Competitive intelligence runs in the background. Prototypes that used to take weeks ship in an afternoon. The practitioners who've figured this out have a real edge — and the gap is widening.
But speed without intention is just noise. The teams pulling ahead aren't just moving faster — they're asking better questions. Who is this designed for? What does responsibility look like when AI is doing the heavy lifting? What's the experience for the person on the other end?
That's what this workshop is about.
What this is
A hands-on practitioner lab — not a lecture. Momentum brings the real workflows. OCAD U CO brings the principled lens. Together, we're running a 3-hour session at OCAD's Waterfront Campus during Toronto Tech Week, designed for product managers, designers, innovation leads, and anyone bringing AI into their team's work with intention.
You'll see where AI is actually being used in product and design teams, which tools matter, where they break down — and then you'll try the workflows yourself with your own tools and accounts.
We cover the workflows that are already changing the job:
→ Discovery & insight synthesis — turn interviews, support tickets, and research notes into usable patterns in minutes. Human judgment picks the question; AI collapses the time.
→ Competitive intelligence — build AI-powered signal monitoring and translate insights directly into product and design strategy. A serious look at what changes when your team has this running.
→ Prototyping & vibe coding — go from idea to working prototype in one session. A designer's eye on who experiences what you build — and what that means for the choices you make along the way.
We'll also address what teams do when their org restricts certain tools, how to adopt AI safely, and how to choose between tools depending on the task.
And if you're actively interviewing? "What's your AI toolkit?" is now a first-15-minutes question from hiring managers. This workshop gives you a real answer.
Why this one is different
Practitioners and principles, in the same room. Most AI workshops give you tools without a framework, or frameworks without anything you can use on Monday. This one gives you both. Momentum's practitioner-tested workflows meet OCAD U CO's human-centered design lens — so you leave with a toolkit that's not just fast, but intentional.
Built for the people who ship. PMs, designers, innovation leads — this is for the people deciding what gets built and how. We've sat through the painful, time-consuming parts of the job, and we've rebuilt those workflows with AI.
Dedicated experts in the room. Momentum workshops have facilitators helping you during the session. You leave with something working.
In person for a reason. AI workflows click faster when you can ask questions live, experiment together, and troubleshoot in real time. And the space matters — OCAD U CO Waterfront Campus is a creative studio environment purpose-built for this kind of thinking.
First in a series. Future sessions go deeper into AI-powered prototyping, vibe coding, competitive intel agents, and AI-enabled product strategy.
All attendees get access to the Momentum Product Community — a space for product and design folks actively building with AI and sharing what works.
Toronto Tech Week is a citywide celebration of the people building what’s next. From May 25–29, 2026, founders, investors, and builders come together for hundreds of community-led events across Toronto, connecting tens of thousands of people around Canadian tech. Torontotechweek.com
