Nature Inspired Chemical Engineering (NICE) Automation - LLabAC#7
London Lab Automation Community (LLabAC) is returning to UCL-East on February 24th 2026 5–9pm.
Our focus for this event is Nature Inspired Solutions, in which UCL is a world leader. The central themes of this topic are;
Hierarchical transport networks
Examples include microfluidic perfusion systems, organ-on-chip platforms, structured flow reactors, advanced heat and mass transfer equipment, and multi-scale fluid routing architectures.Force balancing
Examples include low-shear liquid handling systems, acoustic or dielectrophoretic cell manipulation, shear-optimised bioreactors, magnetic cell handling platforms, and mechanically adaptive culture systems.Dynamic self-organization
Examples include perfusion bioreactors, dynamic cell culture automation platforms, closed-loop culture control systems, time-structured media exchange, pulsed or adaptive stimulation protocols, and feedback-driven process control.Ecosystems, networks, and modularity
Examples include modular automation platforms, interoperable robotics, orchestration and scheduling software, plug-and-play instrument ecosystems, and hybrid academic–industrial workflows.
As the coordinators of LLabAC we see big opportunities for nature inspired approaches in cell and gene therapy and in new approach methodologies. This event is for automation engineers, entrepreneurs, investors as well as academics and students. We want to talk about real every problems, new approaches and genuine solutions.
Come and consider automation from a new perspective for an evening. Talks, demos and networking.
